How is UPPSC Different From UKPSC?

UPPSC, i.e., Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, is the state-authorized agency that conducts civil service examinations for the students of entry-level to enroll in Group A and Group B civil service of its state to recruit various candidates for different designations in civil services such as IAS, IPS, IRF, etc. UPPSC is one of those exams for which candidates apply in lakhs.

Uttarakhand Public Service Commission conducts this state civil services exam to recruit candidates for different posts in state government offices in various sectors such as forest, industry, agricultural, education, engineering, fire, safety, etc.

UPPSC and UKPSC Exam Pattern – Difference

UPPSC PCS exams have three stages: UPPSC Prelims exam, followed by the Main exam, and then ends with a final Personality Test in the form of an interview. Prelims comprise 2 objective type papers of 400 marks. Mains comprises 8 essay & descriptive type papers of 1500 marks. The interview or personality test is of 100 marks.

 

UKPSC exam is conducted in two phases: Prelims, Mains and Interview. Prelims is an objective-based, offline test that is pretty difficult but easy to score. Candidates need to score 35% in main exams to qualify for the next phase, with all seven papers mandatory to qualify for the final phase of the interview round. The combined qualifying maximum marks are 1700 (1500 from the Main result and 200 from the interview score).

Prelims 

It consists of general studies I and General Studies II of 200 marks each with a duration of 2 hours each.

General studies and general aptitude based on classes 10 & 12 in geography, polity, history, and languages. General aptitudes are mostly based on interpersonal, mental ability, logical, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Mains

The main exam consists of Hindi with optional papers 1 and 2, with a set of general studies subject papers of your choice. General Hindi and essay are of 150 marks each and all general studies and optional exams are of 200 marks each with a time duration of 3 hours conducted on different days.

It consists of 7 papers such as language, history, Indian polity, geography,  constitutional development, science and technology, aptitude and ethics, etc. with a duration of three hours.

Lastly, the personality test ends with a viva of 100 marks related to academic interest, intelligence, general awareness, character, personality, and a few GK questionnaires.
